MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE
Notes for new applicants or existing members L.B. & L.T.C. offers membership to persons who wish to participate in Bowls or Tennis or both, or who merely wish to make use of the social facility of the Club. The following notes are aimed at helping you to decide what type of membership you require when you apply for, or renew, your membership. Prospective new members must be proposed by one Ordinary Member and seconded by another Ordinary Member.
There are two classes of membership: (a) Ordinary Members: Who are entitled to a vote in the running of the Club and after a two year residency may hold office within the Club and may propose or second the application of new members. (b) Associate Members: Who are NOT entitled to a vote or to hold office, neither may they propose or second the application of new members.
Ordinary Members (code O) Are entitled to play either or both sports and are categorised as follows: (a) Bowling Members: who are aged 16+ (b) Tennis Members: who are aged 16+
Ordinary Members are further sub-divided as follows: (a) Male Bowling Members (code B). (b) Female Bowling Members (code L). (c) Tennis Members: (Male or Female) (code T). (d) Senior Citizens: (either sport, Male or Female) (code S). Must have reached the age to be in receipt of a state pension, viz. 60 years for women, 65 years for men. (e) Students: (either sport, Male or Female) (code U). Must be over 16 and under 25 years of age and still in full time education.
Associate Members (code A) Are (except House Members) entitled to play either or both sports and are categorised as follows: (a) Bowling Members: who are aged under 16 (b) Tennis Members: who are aged under 16 (c) Country Members (d) House Members
Associate Members are further sub-divided as follows: (a) Primary Members: (either sport, Male or Female) (code P). Must be under 12 years of age. NB: Minimum age for Bowling is 9 years. (b) Junior Members: (either sport, Male or Female) (code J). Must be over 12 and under 16 years of age. (c) Country Members: (either sport, Male or Female) (code C). Must be aged over 16, and permanently reside more than fifty miles from the Club. (d) House Members: (Male or Female) (code H). Must be over 18 years of age and are only entitled to the use of the social facility of the Club.
To ease the manipulation of our Membership Database, code letters are used to denote the various categories of membership as follows: O = (Ordinary Member) A = (Associate Member) B = (Male Bowler) L = (Lady Bowler) T = (Tennis Member) P = (Primary Member) J = (Junior Member) U = (Student Member) E = (Age over 18) C = (Country Member) S = (Senior Citizen) H = (House Member)
